Vet, Set, GO!

Cincinnati will once again come together for a cause that runs deeper than the finish line. The 2025 DAV 5K, presented by USAA, returns to The Banks on Saturday, November 8. The event transforms the riverfront into a sea of red, white, and blue as thousands run, walk, roll, and ride in tribute to America’s veterans.

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization, founded in 1920 and chartered by Congress in 1932, continues its mission of empowering veterans to live high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

A Mission That Moves

The DAV 5K welcomes runners, walkers, wheelchair and hand-cycle participants, and motorcyclists. Those who cannot make it to Cincinnati can take part through the Virtual DAV 5K from November 8 through 11. The virtual format allows participants to complete their miles anywhere while showing their support for veterans.

Registration is free for veterans, with an optional VIP upgrade that includes an exclusive shirt. Civilian registration costs range from $25 to $50 depending on the sign-up period. All proceeds support DAV programs that help veterans access benefits, find employment, and transition successfully to civilian life.

“Our hybrid 5K events give people a chance, no matter where they are, to honor our nation’s veterans,” said DAV CEO Barry Jesinoski. “Your support helps us serve more veterans at no cost to them and allows them to live their lives with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

Where the City Runs for Those Who Served

The 5K begins outside Great American Ball Park at 9 a.m., following an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Check-in opens at 7 a.m. and includes on-site registration, packet pickup, and sponsor displays along Joe Nuxhall Way. Participants can choose a timed 5K (3.1 miles) or a one-mile route. The event proceeds in all weather conditions. Strollers are permitted.

After finishing the race, participants can enjoy a post-race celebration at The Banks, where veterans may redeem a complimentary food and drink ticket at local restaurants including Moerlein Lager House, Holy Grail, The Park, and Jefferson Social.

Parking is available in surrounding garages and surface lots. Street closures begin early Saturday morning. A detailed course map and logistics guide outlines route information and recommended arrival times.

Every Mile Matters

Each registration and donation supports DAV’s national mission to serve veterans and their families. Participants can form teams, raise funds, and access social media templates through the DAV 5K portal.

Volunteers are needed during packet pickup on November 6 and 7 and on race day, November 8. Each volunteer helps ensure that the event runs smoothly and that every participant feels welcomed. Interested volunteers can register at support.dav.org/DAV5KVolunteers.

To honor Veterans Day weekend, several Cincinnati landmarks will be illuminated green, including Great American Ball Park, Paycor Stadium, and Heritage Bank Center.

Why the DAV 5K Stands Apart

The DAV 5K brings together veterans, families, students, and corporate teams in a shared effort to honor those who served. The event encourages participation across all levels of ability through its “run, roll, walk, or ride” format. This inclusivity highlights unity and appreciation for service members across generations.

Those unable to attend in person can still register for the virtual event. Participants complete their miles anywhere in the world and receive a mailed shirt, bib, and medal. Every registration serves as a gesture of respect for those who have served.

Join the Movement

From the opening notes of the national anthem to the last medal handed out, the DAV 5K offers Cincinnati a meaningful way to give back. Every stride taken supports the veterans who have given so much.
